Private WiFi Privacy Policy

Updated January 1, 2020

Private Communications Corp. (PCC), the creator of Private WiFi, is strongly committed to protecting the privacy of our users. Our CEO & Founder Kent Lawson always says, “We are a privacy company, full stop.” This means that at the end of the day, privacy is both our policy and our mission, and we want to ensure that you feel and are protected and secure.

The ins and outs of this Policy might prove to be a bit long for you to read through. If that’s the case, we want to keep it simple. Here is our privacy policy in a nutshell: we promise to be open, honest and transparent with you about how we use your Personal Information (defined below), and we will not knowingly use your Personal Information for any reasons other than the purposes identified in this Policy. Most importantly, we do not store any information about your communications or the websites you visit connected to Private WiFi, and certainly do not sell that information to anyone else.

This Policy describes how PCC collects and uses the Personal Information you provide on our websites, www.privatewifi.com and www.datacompress.com, and while using our products, Private WiFi and DataCompress. It also describes the choices available to you regarding our use of your personal information, and how you can access and update this information. If at any time you have any questions or concerns about how our products or websites store or use your data, you can reach out to us at privacy@privatewifi.com to get a personalized response.

By submitting your Personal Information through our website, you will be considered to have given your permission and consent for the collection, use, retention and disclosure of your Personal Information as set forth in this Policy.

Use of our website and products is limited to persons who are of legal age in the jurisdictions in which they reside. Private WiFi will not knowingly accept any information from an individual under the age of thirteen (13) years. In compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”), any information that Private WiFi may receive from any individual who is reasonably believed to be under the age of thirteen (13) years will be deleted.

Remember, we care about your privacy and take it seriously. Read on for further details.

How to Review and Request Changes to Your Personal Information

You can review and make changes to your Personal Information by visiting our Customer Account Management Page, which you can reach from the Manage Account button in our application software or by clicking here.

How We Use Cookies and Web Beacons

We use cookies to keep track of your preferences and profile information when you visit our website.

We place cookies on your computer to collect non-personally identifiable information to compile aggregated statistics about visitors to our site. For example, we will know how many users access a specific page and which links they clicked on, but not which users. We use this aggregated information to understand and optimize how our site is used.

We also use web beacons on our site to analyze how our site is used and in some of our emails to let us know which emails and links have been opened by recipients. This allows us to gauge the effectiveness of our customer communications and marketing campaigns.

How We Respond to Do Not Track Signals

Private WiFi does not track its customers over time and across third party websites to provide targeted advertising and therefore does not respond to Do Not Track (DNT) signals. However, some third party sites do keep track of your browsing activities when they serve you content, which enables them to tailor what they present to you. Most browsers allow you to set the DNT signal so that third parties (particularly advertisers) know you do not want to be tracked.

How We Protect Your Personal Information

We take the protection of your data very seriously. Whenever you enter sensitive information, such as your credit card number, we encrypt the transmission of that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL). We do not retain most of this sensitive information, and only keep what is necessary to effect the transaction and continue servicing your subscription.

Private WiFi follows generally accepted industry and commercially reasonable measures to protect the Personal Information submitted to us from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction.

While Private WiFi strives to undertake reasonable and necessary efforts to secure Personal Information provided to us through the website, even such security measures do not guarantee the security of all Personal Information, and Private WiFi does not guarantee that the Personal Information it collects will be protected in all circumstances, many of which are beyond Private WiFi’s reasonable control.

If you wish to cancel your account or request that we no longer use your information to provide you services, please contact us at privacy@privatewifi.com.

EU/UK Data Protection Regulations

In some regions, such as the EU and UK, you have certain rights under applicable data protection laws. These generally include the right to (i) request access and obtain a copy of your personal information, (ii) to request correction or erasure, and (iii) to restrict the processing of your personal information. To make such a request, please use the Contact Us details below. We will consider and act upon any request in accordance to applicable data privacy laws.

What Happens if We Change Our Privacy Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect changes to our information practices. If we make any material changes to this Policy, we will post those changes to Private WiFi’s website, and other places we deem appropriate so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. We encourage you to periodically review this page for the latest information on our privacy practices.

If, however, we are going to use users’ Personal Information in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection we will notify users via email. Users will have a choice as to whether or not we use their information in this different manner. However, if users have opted out of all communication with the site, or deleted/deactivated their account, then they will not be contacted, nor will their Personal Information be used in this new manner. In addition, if we make any material changes in our privacy practices that do not affect user information already stored in our database, we will post a prominent notice on our website notifying users of the change. In some cases where we post a notice we will also email users who have opted to receive communications from us, notifying them of the changes in our privacy practices and/or this Policy.
